Check out the smoothie recipes by Clark Russell - nutritionist. (thefatlosspuzzle.com/smoothiebook)
Here's one to try; Pineapple and coconut cheesecake.per person
Did you know that one portion (300g) of fresh pineapple contains approx 90% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C for an adult and that new research suggests that the fruit could also act as a painkiller. A study by the University of Mosul's college of dentistry looked at the chemical bromelain which pineapple contains and researchers tested its effect on pain and inflammation after dental surgery. It significantly reduced pain comparatively when compared to common anti inflammatory drug diclofenac and a placebo. If you want to eat/bake using less sugar check out my own recipe collection for desserts, puds and tea-time treats but for more ideas re day to day living you could try www.peasandfigs.co.uk which features a whole range of recipes covering all sorts of intolerances and allergies. Alternatively you could take a look at www.theintolerantgourmet.com .
Cinnamon swirl for that afternoon pick-me-up.
Half cinnamon stick Half mug of water 1 green tea bag Half an orange - juiced. Crush the cinnamon into a pan with the water and the tea bag, bring to the boil and then leave to steep for 5 minutes. Add the juice and reheat but don't let it reboil. Enjoy.
If you want to try something different for the new year have a go at this quick banana smoothie. You will need 250ml of either vanilla rice milk, oat milk or almond milk, one small ripe banana, a tablespoon of chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts are good) , a pinch of cinnamon and 2 dates (soft medjool dates are lovely in this).Warm the milk either in the microwave or in a pan on the hob - warm but do not boil. Add this to all the other ingredients in blender and whiz until it's of a consistency that you like.
